The Prime Minister urged an accelerated construction timeline to ensure the project’s timely completion. He emphasized its significance as the primary venue for the upcoming national exhibition, celebrating Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements on the momentous occasions of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945) and National Day (September 2, 1945).
Located in the historic Co Loa area, the center is envisioned to become an iconic symbol of Hanoi and Vietnam. It will reflect the nation’s stature, cultural richness, architectural excellence, environmental harmony, and modern governance, as per the Prime Minister’s instructions.
He highlighted the importance of showcasing Vietnam’s progress over the four decades since Doi Moi and transforming the center into a thriving hub for culture, arts, tourism, and creative industries.
“This regional and global exhibition center will offer our people access to cultural and artistic achievements from Vietnam and worldwide,” the Prime Minister stated. “It must localize universal values while internationalizing our unique cultural identity.”
The Prime Minister set the goal of completing the main construction by the end of July 2025. Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh will oversee project execution, while the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism will develop a detailed timeline with clear responsibilities and accountability.
Additionally, the Prime Minister approved special mechanisms and policies to support the project. If required, foreign consultants with large-scale event organization experience can be engaged. Simultaneously, he emphasized the need for Vietnamese personnel to embrace new technologies and management practices.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, he stated, “We only move forward, never backward. Our promises are kept, and our commitments are fulfilled with tangible outcomes and real products.”
Alongside the main exhibition facilities, the Prime Minister instructed the parallel development of auxiliary infrastructure, service facilities, and amenities to ensure the center’s effective operation and world-class standards.
Strategically located at Hanoi’s northeastern gateway, the National Exhibition and Fair Centre is a flagship national project in the trade and service sector. It replaces the former exhibition center in Giang Vo and commenced construction in late August 2024. Spanning 90 hectares, the site offers exceptional connectivity through roadways, air routes, and metro lines. The centerpiece is an indoor exhibition facility comprising nine zones, each exceeding 10,000 square meters, with a central hall of over 7,000 square meters. The center will also feature four expansive outdoor exhibition parks, covering a combined area of 20.6 hectares, making it the largest of its kind in Asia. Concluding his visit, the Prime Minister expressed his encouragement and appreciation to the workers and engineers on-site, underscoring the project’s national significance and its future role as a cultural and economic beacon. |
