Early lunar New Year for Bach Long Vi islanders
The High Command of the Vietnam Coast Guard Region 1 presents a haul of 165 gifts to policy beneficiary families, poor households, and good students of Bach Long Vi island district. Bringing festive presents to soldiers is an annual activity showing the sentiments and care the Party, State, army, navy, and citizens of the country extend to the nation’s armed forces garrisoned at sea and on the islands. Local children excitedly hold art performances to celebrate Tet. A zero VND market is also organised as part of efforts to assist local residents during the Tet holiday. The market helps local people to buy free necessities, meeting their demands during Tet. Soldiers on the island organise a contest to make Banh Chung, square sticky rice cake, in preparation for the country’s biggest festival.
