According to Netflix, the film was shot in five iconic destinations across the country, showcasing its range of beautiful locations to global audiences.

Through the film, audiences from around the world will be treated to the charming spectacles of vibrant life in Ho Chi Minh City, the natural scenery of the central city of Da Nang, the laid-back ancient ambience of Hoi An, the majestic landscapes found in Ha Giang, and the unique beauty of Hanoi.

The film was written by Vietnamese-American Eirene Donohue and draws inspiration from her own travel experiences exploring her roots led by director Steven Tsuchida.

It also sees the presence of both an international and local cast, including Vietnamese-American actor Scott Ly, as well as local stars Truc Tran and Le Thien.

“A Tourist’s Guide to Love” is the story of Amanda, a travel executive who experiences an unexpected break-up and decides to accept an assignment to go undercover and learn about the tourist industry in Vietnam.

Along the way, she finds adventure and romance with her Vietnamese expat tour guide after they decide to hijack the tour bus to explore life and love off the beaten path.

During the film Rachael Leigh Cook, who stars at the main actress, wears an Ao Dai (Vietnamese traditional long dress) and spends time on discovering Vietnamese culture such as eating durians, watching water puppet shows, and seeing lion dances.

The film will be screened globally from April 21.
